Der [[Comicup]]-Zeichner '''José Antonio González''' (* 9. April 1959 in Barcelona) gestaltete ab 1986 Kauka-Comics mit der [[Fix und Foxi|FF]]-Familie. Nach der Einstellung von [[Fix und Foxi (Liste)|Fix und Foxi]] Mitte der 90er arbeitete er weiterhin für das Comicup-Studio an anderen Comicserien wie ''Die Punkpiraten'' ([[Yps]]) und ''Die Pillen''. Bis heute zeichnet González Disney-Comics mit ''Micky Maus'', ''Goofy'' und gelegentlich weiteren Disneyfiguren.
 
 
==Werdegang des Zeichners==

Schon von klein auf war González begeistert von Comics, vor allem [[Albert Uderzo|Uderzo]]s [[Asterix]]-Comics hatten es ihm angetan. So fing er selbst mit dem Zeichnen an und brachte sich den Umgang mit dem Zeichenstift autodidaktisch bei. Im Jahre 1985 begann der damals 26-jährige dann im [[Comicup]]-Studio von [[José Cánovas]]. Seine FF-Comics, die er ca. 1986 zu zeichnen anfing, lieferte der Katalane immer nur in Bleistift ab, für die Tuschezeichnung seiner Arbeiten war sein Studiokollege [[Tony Fernández]] zuständig. Laut González behielten die beiden Zeichner diese Arbeitsteilung bis heute bei.

Im Laufe der Zeit glich González seinen eigenen FF-Zeichenstil immer mehr und immer besser dem Strich von [[Massimo Fecchi]] an. Die Zeichnungen seiner letzten Arbeiten wie "Auf den Spuren der Wikinger" (VÖ in [[Fix und Foxi 45/1993|FF 45/1993]]) und "Die Reise in die Unterwelt" (VÖ in [[Fix und Foxi 49/1993|FF 49/1993]]) sind kaum noch von denen des italienischen Vorbilds zu unterscheiden. Persönlich hatte González kein Problem damit, sich dem damals gültigen FF-Stil so stark anzupassen, da dieser gut mit seinem eigenen Zeichenstil zusammenging (auch Fecchi ist schließlich Uderzo-Verehrer): "Tatsächlich schaue ich immer aufmerksam in diese Comics, da ich ein großer Fan von Fecchi bin, von dem ich sehr viel gelernt habe", erklärt Gonzáles und erzählt, dass er einmal bei Egmont in Dänemark sogar das Vergnügen hatte, den italienischen Spitzenzeichner persönlich kennenzulernen.

An seine FF-Zeit denkt Gonzáles heute gern zurück und sagt auch von sich aus, dass er sehr erfreut wäre, wenn er wieder für die Kauka-Publikationen zeichnen könnte.

Der Katalane '''Carlos Grangel''' (* 17. Oktober 1963 in Barcelona) avancierte in den 80er Jahren zu einem der besten FF-Zeichner des [[Comicup|Comicup-Studios]]. Besonderes Merkmal des Künstlers, der den Stil von Referenzzeichner [[Massimo Fecchi]] erstaunlich gut adaptierte, waren vor allem originell gestaltete Tiere, Phantasiewesen und Nebenfiguren, die er in dynamisch-lockerem Strich in seinen FF-Comics zu Papier brachte.

Für das [[Comicup]]-Studio (und über die [[Comicon]]-Agentur) zeichnete Grangel von 1981 bis 1983 Comics für [[Fix und Foxi (Liste)|Fix und Foxi]] und [[Knax]] sowie die schwedische Wochenzeitschrift Skoj. Außerdem fertigte er für die in Barcelona ansässigen Verlage Druida und Bruguera Comics der Serien ''Jauja'', ''Tom und Jerry'', ''Yogi Bär'' und ''Familie Feuerstein'' an. Nach seiner einjährigen Militärdienstzeit gestaltete Grangel von 1984 bis 1986 für das dänische Gutenberghus (heute Egmont) Geschichten mit ''Winnie Puuh''. Abermals für Comicup zeichnete er im Zeitraum von 1986 bis 1990 synchron Kauka-Comics für [[Pabel]] und Disney-Comics für Oberon in den Niederlanden (''Hansi Hase''). Daneben gestaltete er eigene Arbeiten sowie Illustrationen für Kinderbücher, Comics und Grußkarten.

1989 machte Grangel an der Createcnia-Schule für Gestaltung und Kommunikation ein Diplom in Animationtechniken. Nach seinem Abschied von Comicup im Jahre 1990 wagte er sogleich den Sprung ins Trickfilmgeschäft, in dem er seither sehr erfolgreich mitmischt - mittlerweile gehört er zu den gefragtesten Künstlern der Animationsbranche. In seinem eigenen Studio, das er zusammen mit seinem Bruder Jordi gründete, entwickelt und gestaltet der ehemalige Kauka-Zeichner heute Figuren und Stile für qualitativ hochwertige Animationsfilme und überwacht den anschließenden Produktionsablauf. Unter anderem hat er auch für Steven Spielbergs Dreamworks Animation Studio und für Tim Burton gearbeitet.

Seine Zeichnerlehre begann Grangel im Sommer 1980, gleich nach Beendigung der Schule, beim [[Studio Sanchís Bonet]] in seiner Heimatstadt Barcelona. Der damals gerade 17-jährige liebte das Zeichnen so sehr, dass er lieber Comic-Zeichner und Illustrator werden wollte, anstatt die Universität zu besuchen. Seinen Eltern ist er sehr dankbar, dass sie ihm damals erlaubten, das zu tun, was ihm am Herzen lag. Woher seine große Zeichenleidenschaft kam, kann Grangel nicht genau sagen. Dem heutigen Mittvierziger fallen spontan auch keine bestimmten Lieblingscomics ein, die er damals hatte, oder gar Vorbilder, denen er nacheiferte. Von sich sagt Grangel heute, dass er Kunst ganz allgemein mag, ob nun in Form von Comics oder anderen künstlerischen Disziplinen. Seiner Ansicht nach könne man aus allen Kunstrichtungen viel lernen, was Freude bereite. Wie der gleichaltrige [[Isaac Montoya Salamó|Isaac Montoya]], der schon ein Jahr zuvor im Studio angefangen hatte, kam auch Carlos Grangel bei Sanchís erstmals mit Kauka-Comics in Berührung: Seine erste Aufgabe in Sachen [[Fix und Foxi]] sei es gewesen, grobe Vorskizzen, Scribbles und Storyboards für andere Zeichner zu erstellen, die daraufhin das eigentliche Artwork ausführten.

Schon nach einem Jahr bei Sanchís, im Sommer 1981, wechselte der talentierte Jungzeichner zum Studio Comicup von [[José Cánovas]], welches damals noch das spanische Zeichenstudio von Comicon war:

''So weit ich weiß, war Comicup José Cánovas' eigene Firma, die er ursprünglich in El Masnou gegründet hatte, das ca. 35 km außerhalb von Barcelona liegt. Nebenbei bemerkt war José Cánovas selbst ein großartiger Comic-Zeichner. Um 1979/80 zog er mit seiner Firma um nach Barcelona. Ich dachte damals auch, dass Comicon nur [[Peter Wiechmann]]s Unternehmen war, aber es war wohl so, dass er und José eng zusammenarbeiteten, wobei jeder sein eigenes Unternehmen hatte.''

Bei Comicon/Comicup war Carlos Grangel ausschließlich als Scribbler und Pencil-Artist tätig. Manchmal schlossen auch andere Penciler des Comicup-Teams seine Reinzeichnungen ab, für eine Weile beispielsweise [[Miguel]]. Über die Jahre tuschten mehrere Inker seine Zeichnungen:

''Ich habe immer nur die Bleistiftzeichnungen gemacht und hatte viele verschiedene Inker, die mit mir und anderen Zeichnern zusammenwirkten. Um nur ein paar zu nennen, [[Carles Burgès]], der die Indianer-Geschichte'' [„Der geraubte Totem“ aus [[Fix und Foxi 8/1987|FF 8/1987]]] ''getuscht hat, [[Joaquín Cañizares]], [[Pedro Alférez Canós|Pedro Alférez]], [[Gina Carol]], [[Tran]]...''

Die Freiheiten bei der Auswahl von Skripten oder bestimmten Themen, die Grangel als Comicup-Zeichner umsetzen konnte, waren eher begrenzt - er und seine Kollegen arbeiteten damals mit den Skripten, die ihnen gerade zur Verfügung standen. Am liebsten waren ihm die Geschichten, die es ihm erlaubten, Außerirdische oder auch Tiere zu zeichnen. Dass er seine Zeichnungen streng am Stil von [[Massimo Fecchi]]s FF-Comics ausrichten musste, störte ihn damals nicht. Fecchi sei eben das Muster gewesen, dem man folgte und das man kopieren sollte, und er persönlich fand den Zeichenstil sehr ansprechend. Carlos Grangel blickt heute sehr gern auf seine Zeit als Comicup-Zeichner zurück, die er mit vielen schönen Erinnerungen verbindet:

''Ich war ein sehr junger Künstler, und Lernen war meine hauptsächliche Motivation. Ich wollte stets eine schöne und anständige Arbeit abliefern. Die Zeit bei Comicup hat mir auf jeden Fall sehr viel Spaß gemacht, und sie hat mir sehr geholfen, mich immer weiter zu verbessern und zu professionalisieren. Ich muss auch noch erwähnen, dass ich Mitte der 80er auf einer Reise mit José Canovas den Verlag in Rastatt besuchte, dort kam ich mit den Verantwortlichen zusammen. Ich habe großartige Erinnerungen an das Treffen mit [[Helmut Murek]], den ich als sehr kreativen und netten Menschen kennenlernte.''

Als er 1990 aufhörte, Comics für Comicup zu zeichnen, erzählt Grangel, habe er sich in die Entwicklung von Figuren und Stilen für Animationsfilme geradezu hineingestürzt, da er dies für sich als die perfekte Arbeit ansah, um seine kreativen Fähigkeiten noch weiter ausbauen zu können.

===Grangel über die Trickfilmprojekte von Kauka Promedia===

Im Februar 2008 erfuhr Carlos Grangel erstmals von den Trickfilmprojekten, die [[Kauka Promedia]] mit dem [[Animationsstudio Ludewig]] in Hamburg realisiert. Der Animationsexperte machte sich ein Bild von der im spanischen Animationsstudio [[D'Ocon]] produzierten alten Fix & Foxi-TV-Serie und schaute sich außerdem die verschiedenen Style- und Model-Sheets der FF-Familie an, die Kauka Promedia zwischen 1998 und 2008 erstellen ließ. Eher skeptisch reagierte er darauf, dass der abendfüllende [[Fix & Foxi]]-Kinofilm im Gegensatz zur [[Pauli]]-TV-Serie in 3D-Animation geplant ist:

''Ich wusste bislang nicht, dass an einer TV-Serie für Pauli gearbeitet wird. Das ist großartig und umso besser, wenn sie klassisch animiert wird und nicht in 3D. Ich glaube schon, dass Kauka-Figuren sich sehr gut für 2D-Animation eignen, aber nicht daran, dass sie sich auch gut auf 3D übertragen lassen. Ich hoffe, dass die Produzenten die Figuren nicht zu stark verändern. Die sind schön und liebenswert gestaltet, so wie sie damals in den Comics waren. Und was die FF-Trickfilmserie von D'Ocon betrifft... meine ehrliche Meinung ist, dass die nicht gut genug war. Ich denke, wenn man Comic-Figuren für den Trickfilm animiert, muss man ziemlich vorsichtig sein. Da ist es sehr wichtig, genau auszuwählen, wem man die künstlerische Leitung anvertraut und wer das Character-Design kontrolliert, sonst läuft alles sehr leicht schief. Und mit 3D ist das sogar noch schwieriger. Die FF-Figuren haben einen sehr grafischen Stil, also muss die Umsetzung für die Animation gut vorausgeplant werden. Sie erfordert genaue vorhergehende Modellstudien und eine Menge Entwicklungsarbeit im Vorfeld der Produktion. Ich fliege am Ende der Woche schon wieder nach Los Angeles, um eine Filmproduktion zu betreuen. Damit will ich sagen, dass Aufsicht und Rückmeldung in der Animationsbranche wirklich sehr wichtig sind! Mir persönlich gefällt ja der Fecchi-Stil am besten, vielleicht aus der mittleren Zeitspanne seiner Comics, wahrscheinlich so von 1979 bis 1986, mehr oder weniger. Ich mag auch einiges aus seiner frühen Stilphase. Deshalb bin ich der Meinung, dass Fecchi als Berater für die Animation einbezogen werden sollte.''

Auf die Frage, ob er als erfahrener Trickfilmprofi nicht viel besser für den Job geeignet wäre, und ob er nicht Lust verspüre, die Animation des FF-Spielfilms selbst zu betreuen, äußerte sich Carlos Grangel grundsätzlich nicht abgeneigt. Allerdings ist das Studio des ehemaligen FF-Zeichners seiner Meinung nach für dieses Projekt möglicherweise überqualifiziert, da er vermutet, dass sich der geplante 3D-Film produktionstechnisch nicht auf dem Niveau international konkurrenzfähiger Animationsfilme befindet.

''Die Supervision für den 3D-Film mit FF würde ich wirklich sehr gern machen, aber ich kann schlecht da hingehen, fragen und meine Vorschläge einreichen... das klingt zwar ein bisschen eingebildet, aber ich habe auch meine Zweifel, dass die sich uns überhaupt leisten wollten: Unsere Preise basieren ja derzeit auf großen Hollywoodproduktionen. Zuletzt hatten wir an "Bee Movie" und "Kung Fu Panda" gearbeitet, und wir haben eine neue Zusammenarbeit mit Aardman in Bristol... wir haben also auch so wirklich eine Menge zu tun.''
