Seit dem Jahreswechsel 1972/1973 richtete sich Primo sowohl inhaltlich als auch von der Formatgröße her an dieselbe Zielgruppe wie [[Zack|ZACK]]: Das Magazin setzte u.a. auf realistisch gezeichnete Serien aus dem spanischen [[Trinca]] und kooperierte auch bei der Entwicklung eigener Serien mit Trinca-Zeichnern. ZACK konnte jedoch mit seinen realistischen Lizenzserien frankobelgischen Ursprungs mehr punkten als Primo, das – ebenso wie [[Pepito (Magazin)|Pepito]] – zum Jahresende 1974 zu Gunsten des von den neuen Verlagseignern IPC/VNU lancierten Magazins [[Kobra]] eingestellt wurde.
